Privacy Policy

HistoriQuote stores limited activity data to operate the site and publish the Site Activity dashboard.

What is stored

• Each successfully submitted ticker symbol, normalized to uppercase, with its UTC lookup time.
• The client IP address for a page visit, with first-seen and last-seen times and an approximate city, region, country, latitude, and longitude.
• A SHA-256 hash of a random analytics cookie, plus visit and lookup counters. The original cookie value is not stored.
• Daily and hourly totals for visits, lookups, response sources, and generated fact counts.

Separation and display

Symbol events are not linked to IP-address records or analytics sessions. Raw IP addresses stay in the database and are never included in the Site Activity page. The map receives only rounded coordinates, approximate place names, and grouped counts.

What is not stored as telemetry

HistoriQuote does not store stock prices, user agents, referrers, full query strings, AI prompts, or AI responses in its analytics tables.

Service providers

Public IP addresses are sent server-side to ipwho.is to obtain approximate location data. The Site Activity map loads map tiles from CARTO using OpenStreetMap data. Quote requests and generated historical content also use the providers described by the application's configured stock and AI services.

Retention

Symbol events, IP-address location records, daily activity, and inactive analytics sessions are retained for up to 180 days. Hourly activity is retained for up to 30 days.
